What (Really) Happened, Day #7
One month before Election Day, Bill Clinton forgot to read the talking points.
As Hillary Clinton desperately tried to unite the Democratic Party and convince Bernie Sanders voters that she would adequately preserve President Obama’s legacy, including the Affordable Care Act, she watched her husband get on stage and throw it into chaos.
Bill Clinton stood at a rally in Michigan and slammed ObamaCare as “the craziest thing in the world” because you have people “who are out there busting it, sometimes 60 hours a week, [and] wind up with their premiums doubled and their coverage cut in half.”
BILL CLINTON: “The people who are getting killed in this deal are small business people and individuals who make just a little too much to get any of these subsidies. . . .
“You’ve got this crazy system where all of a sudden 25 million more people have health care and then the people who are out there busting it, sometimes 60 hours a week, wind up with their premiums doubled and their coverage cut in half.
“It’s the craziest thing in the world.”
CNN’s Michelle Kosinski asked White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest at that afternoon’s briefing, “Do you wish that he had used different words than ‘crazy,’ and ‘craziest thing in the world’?”
Nervous laughter followed. “Of course,” Earnest responded.
